The Great Lakes are probably the world's premier freshwater resource, accounting for 20 percent of the world's fresh surface water and around 90 percent of the United States' fresh surface water. It's a challenging area to work in, but the lakes are also important for the future of the country and in making us competitive. And the Great Lakes region is a very nice place to live!
