E-M:/ More on Endangered Species Act

Enviro-Mich message from anne.woiwode@sfsierra.sierraclub.org

It was pointed out that some folks will not have the information needed to
contact our two U.S. Senators, Carl Levin and Spencer Abraham, to encourage
them to OPPOSE S.1180, the bad reauthorization proposal for the federal
Endangered Species Act. Below are the details:

Senator Carl Levin or Senator Spencer Abraham
               U. S. Senate
               Washington, D.C. 20510
Capitol Switchboard: 202-225-3121
(call and ask to be connected to the office of either Senator)

You can also check your local phone book and contact the local offices of the
Senators -- there are offices around the state. Frequently, when you call the
in state offices they will put you through to D.C. as well, so you pay only a
local calling cost.

When you call, you can ask to speak to the aid handling environmental issues
and give a complete message, or you can leave a message at the desk. Ask for
a response to your concerns -- you may well get no indication at first of what
the Senator's position is, but as they reach a position they should let you

S. 1180, the Kempthorne bill, is going through the Senate Committee right now,
and may well make its way to the Senate floor within a very short time. NOW
is the time to contact the Senators and express concern!!
