National Center for Industrial Competitiveness NCIC helps technology based companies in Ohio and the Great Lakes region by providing financial, technical and management support. Northeast-Midwest Institute The Institute is a policy research center providing staff support to the House and Senate Great Lakes Task Forces. Policy research focuses on invasive species, ecosystem restoration, island conservation, water management, brownfield redevelopment, economic benefits of sediment remediation, energy, and other issues important to the Great Lakes. Société de développement économique du Saint-Laurent (St. Lawrence Economic Development Council) Established in November 1985, the SODES is a non-profit organization mandated to protect and promote the economic interests of the St. Lawrence. SODES represents the St. Lawrence maritime community, which includes all public and private agencies whose activities have a direct or indirect impact on the economy of the St. Lawrence within Québec, and voices its concerns to governments with regard to the economic development and life of the St. Lawrence. Transportation and Sustainable Development Program Great Lakes Commission The program promotes sustainable, resource-based economic activity and the use, development and maintenance of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence transportation system.
